In 1735, Jean Louis, a French sailor and shipbuilder, died in New Orleans leaving his small fortune to found Charity Hospital to serve the city’s poor because there was no other place for them to go.
The Jean Louis 1735 Legacy Society celebrates donors who honor Jean Louis’ generous gift and carry this legacy forward by including LSUHSC in their estate planning.
This society honors all individuals who have named LSU Health New Orleans a beneficiary of their estate.
